Prescott, AZ is recognized globally for its distinctive shops and local eateries, with most of the action happening in its downtown area. At the center of this downtown area is the Yavapai County Courthouse, a historic building with public walking paths and grassy lawns for those who want to take a stroll or seat while enjoying the ambiance of this dynamic part of Prescott.
Hotels, boutiques, restaurants, and bars surround the Courthouse Square, making this project in progress an ideal fit for anyone who wants to enjoy the space or set up a pop-up business within it. It’s perfectly located right off the western corner of the Courthouse Square at 119 W. Goodwin Street.
This beautiful public park and event space will be known as Ruffner Plaza, an homage to the Ruffner family who originally maintained their Ruffner Plaza Stables on the lot. The design itself is a nod to this past and uses the Ruffner Plaza Stables as its creative guide.
At Ruffner Plaza, anyone will be able to host events and entertainment, and vendors can offer food or retail. The park will also include non-gender-specific public restrooms in consideration of present social concerns.
This community development project was created in partnership with Nanke Signature Group and the current property owners of 119 W. Goodwin Street.
